On December 26th, the Huizhou Natural Gas Power Plant in Huizhou Daya Bay Development Zone (also known as the Huizhou LNG Power Plant) expanded its cogeneration project. It is reported that the expansion project is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2015. By then, the total installed capacity of the whole plant will reach 2,550 megawatts, which will become the largest domestic gas turbine power plant.

It is understood that the Huizhou Natural Gas Power Plant Expansion Cogeneration Project will build 3 sets of 460 MW gas-fired steam combined-cycle cogeneration units with a total planned investment of approximately 3.5 billion yuan, from Guangdong Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. and China National Offshore Oil & Gas Co., Ltd. Co-invested by a limited liability company, it is a second-phase expansion project of Guangdong Huizhou Natural Gas Power Generation Co., Ltd., which generates 6.8 billion kwh of electricity annually and supplies 4.78 million tons of industrial steam annually. The project uses clean and highly efficient natural gas as fuel, with no emissions of sulfur, ash and slag. The emissions of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides are also far lower than those of coal-fired power plants of the same scale, with high efficiency, cleanliness, high calorific value, etc.; The gas-fired steam combined cycle generating unit has a power generation efficiency of 58.86%.

According to reports, the project is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2015. In addition to the three 390-megawatt gensets of the first phase currently in operation, the total installed capacity of the whole plant will reach 2,550 megawatts, which will become the largest domestic gas turbine power plant. According to the person in charge of the company, after the expansion project is put into production, it not only can effectively alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand of electricity in the Huizhou region, improve the power supply structure, but also provide a large number of high-quality heat sources for industrial users in Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone, in line with the current national energy saving, environmental protection and environmental protection.
