ItSeez3D supports iPad to complete modeling directly

PrimeSense, recently acquired by Apple, introduced a new iPad application, ItSeez3D, which allows iPad users to convert furniture, shoes, toys and even people into 3D models. This app is built for the Occipital structure sensor that was launched last autumn on Kickstarter. The Itseez3D app is currently available for free download in the Apple App Store and is compatible with iPad Air and iPad 4.

Israel's 3D scanning technology company, PrimeSense, was acquired by Apple last November. At that time, the parties speculated that the acquisition was for the somatosensory function of Apple TV. The publication of ItSeez3D application revealed this mystery.

The 3D scanning device is connected to the Structure Sensor attached to the iPad by installing the ItSeez 3D application, allowing the user to quickly capture the shape and color of the object, and can upload the intercepted completed data to the cloud, a few minutes later, the complete 3D. The model will be passed back to the iPad and the returned model can also be imported into CAD software for editing or import into a 3D printer to create a copy.

When the user selects the target object, the sensor captures the imaging data, and the software then synthesizes it into a realistic color 3D model. Users can use the .ply or .obj format files for sharing 3D models in emails, or upload 3D productions on the sketchfab.com website. The Itseez 3D application was originally developed to support Occipital's Augmented Reality technology and is therefore based on Occipital's SDK design.

Apple officials pointed out that when using 3D scanning, everyone can easily capture and share high-resolution 3D models with iPads and Structure Sensor devices. This technology can even be applied to interior design and every item in the home. It is quite convenient.

At present, the price of Structure Sensor is 499 US dollars (about 3096 yuan), including Skanect Pro sensors, iPad holder (optional blue or silver), USB Hacker cable, Lightning cable and other parts and equipment.
