ADS8548 Reference Design Circuit | Analog to Digital Converter Application Circuit

The ADS8548 contains eight low-power, 14-bit, successive-associated register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with true two-stage inputs. This article mainly introduces the ADS8548 features, application range, reference design circuit and circuit analysis to help you shorten the design time.

ADS8548 features:

These channels are divided into 4 pairs, thus allowing up to 650 kSPS simultaneous high speed signal acquisition. Supports an optional parallel or serial interface with daisy chain capability. This programmable reference can handle analog input signals with amplitudes up to ±12V. The ADS8548 product supports an automatic sleep mode for minimum power dissipation and is available in QFN-64 and LQFP-64 packages. All products are rated for operation from –40°C to +125°C.

  • 14-Bit, Pin- and Software-Compatible ADC Series
  • Maximum data rate per channel: ADS8548: 600kSPS (PAR) or 450kSPS (SER)
  • Excellent AC performance: Signal to noise ratio: ADS8548: 85dB, all harmonic distortion: ADS8548: –91dB
  • Programmable and Buffered Internal Reference: 0.5V to 2.5V or 0.5V to 3.0V Supports input voltage range up to ±12V
  • Optional parallel or serial interface
  • Scalable, low-power operation with automatic sleep mode: at 10 kSPS, power consumption is only 32 mW

Typical applications for the ADS8548 include: protection relays, power quality management, multi-axis motor control, programmable logic controllers, industrial data acquisition

USB Hub

USB HUB

A USB hub is a device that expands a single Universal Serial Bus (USB) port into several so that there are more ports available to connect devices to a host system, similar to a power strip. All devices connected through a USB hub share the bandwidth available to that hub. With a multi USB port HUB, you'd be able to connect all your USB hard drives at once and simultaneously transfer the photos to other. Some USB port hubs even come with SD card slots, so you could transfer the photos directly from your port hub. You wouldn't have to transfer them to your computer first.
