2008 Seminar on Trade Standards for Renewable Energy and Energy Saving Lighting Systems Held in Shanghai

"Lighting Systems Trade Standards Seminar". Leaders of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Shanghai Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, US Department of Energy Officer, Dr. B el inda Collins, Director of Technical Services, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and Vice President and President of UL Mr. Lai Lunhui, General Manager of China, delivered keynote speeches and shared with the representatives of more than 200 companies and academic institutions present at the remarkable achievements of renewable energy projects in China and the United States, and on future energy-saving lighting systems in China and around the world. The application prospects in the market have been usefully explored. Solar lighting is getting closer and closer to people's lives.
This seminar revolves around the three major areas of photovoltaics, distributed generation equipment and solid-state lighting sources, and fully explains the knowledge and standards of renewable energy, ie sustainable development technology. As the world's first third-party testing organization to work on the safety certification of photovoltaic products, UL has cooperated with the National Institute of Standards and Technology to invite technical experts and scholars from a number of authoritative organizations, including leading in the field of photovoltaics and lighting. The company aims to carry out extensive and in-depth education in the industry through this efficient communication platform to actively promote the further development of China's renewable energy industry.
In recent years, in the face of rising oil prices and deteriorating environmental problems, various countries are actively paying attention to the development of renewable energy, and the related industries such as photovoltaic, solar power and lighting have a huge market. It has become the focus of countries in formulating support policies and development plans in recent years. UL is fully aware of the broad prospects of the renewable energy market. As early as 1986, it has launched UL1703, a safety standard for flat panel PV modules, becoming the first third-party certification body in the world to develop standards for photovoltaic products. UL1703 was immediately accepted as a national standard in the United States, and then recognized by the Canadian government. Not only that, but UL also led the preparation of the IEC 61730-1 & -2 standard for safety and performance, thus determining UL's leadership in the field of photovoltaic certification. status.
When talking about the export-oriented Chinese PV industry, experts have said that for the products sold in Europe and the United States, there are strict safety and performance requirements, and corresponding standards have been set up, and special certification service agencies are required. Products are tested and certified to standardize the quality of photovoltaic products, which is currently the main challenge facing the Chinese PV industry. In response to this situation, Mr. Ji Liangjun, a UL R&D engineer, puts forward: “Photovoltaic standards can play a positive role in the whole cycle of products from R&D, production to market: they can help manufacturers speed up research and development, correctly evaluate different production processes, and improve product quality. And safety, at the same time, manufacturers can get advanced information on products and enhance the image and popularity of products in the market."
At present, UL is the only national certification body in the United States under the CB system with dual qualifications for certification and accreditation. It can issue IECEE-CB certificates, which can be accepted by any country participating in the CB system, and can obtain certifications from different countries. Marking can greatly shorten the time of global certification. Mr. Lai Lunhui, Vice President of UL and General Manager of Greater China, said: “UL has been in the Chinese market for nearly 30 years and has been committed to providing one-stop certification services to its customers. China's renewable energy industry is entering a period of rapid development. In order to meet the growing demand, this year, we will also establish a new photovoltaic laboratory in China to continuously enhance UL's testing capabilities in the photovoltaic field."
“In response to the Chinese market, UL is committed to promoting China's industrial development by building various communication platforms and sharing our mature technologies and experiences with the industry.” Mr. Lai Lunhui added: “This and US national standards The forum of cooperation with the Institute of Technology is one of the many efforts of UL. We are very happy to discuss China's renewable energy and effective light energy solutions. We hope that a brighter and more environmentally friendly future will come soon. ."
