AT & T joins the board of the Home Grid Forum to support the development of G.hn wired home networking

Beaverton, Oregon, USA, June 2, 2011-The HomeGrid Forum announced that AT & T joined the organization as a promoter member and was appointed to the board of directors of the HomeGrid Forum. As a member of the AT & T technical team and a communications industry expert, Tom Starr will represent AT & T on the board of directors.

Matt Theall, chairman of the Home Grid Forum, believes that AT & T is an ideal board member.

AT & T is the latest member of a group of high-level, industry-leading organizations working together on G.hn, a fully approved and complete wired home networking standard developed by ITU-T. The Home Grid Forum will connect global service providers, consumer electronics manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers / original design manufacturers, chipset suppliers, and other organizations interested in providing the best solutions for their customers and interested in wired home networking connect together. Other board members include Marvell, BestBuy, BT, Intel, LanTIq, Sigma Designs and Telefonica.

As a leading member of the AT & T laboratory technical team, Mr. Starr is responsible for developing new local access technologies for AT & T networks and establishing corresponding standards. He was listed among the most influential people in the "Top 100 Global Telecommunications Industry in 2010". He is a well-known telecommunications industry leader and holds dozens of patents; he is the chairman of several ITU-T working groups, and Chairman of the Broadband Forum.

In addition to Mr. Starr, Mr. Vemon Reed will also serve as an alternate board member. Mr. Reed is one of the leading members of the technical team of AT & T Austin Laboratories in Texas, USA; since 2004, he has developed and tested AT & T ’s all-IP U-verse TV service as a technical leader. He is considered to be an authority using broadband access systems to achieve end-to-end content transmission, computing technology, and home network technology applied in the field of IPTV.
