The origin of the concept of smart home was very early, but there have been no specific architectural cases. Until 1984, United Technologies Building System applied the concept of building equipment informationization and integration to the United States of Connecticut. The first smart building emerged in the CityPlace Building in Hartford, which opened the world's rush to build smart homes.

The most famous smart home is to count Bill Gates mansion. Bill Gates describes in his book The Road to the Future the large private mansion he is building on Lake Washington. He described his home as "built from silicon and software" and "adopting ever-changing cutting-edge technology." After seven years of construction, in 1997, Bill, Gates's mansion was finally built. His mansion is built entirely in accordance with the concept of smart homes. Not only does it have a dedicated line for high-speed Internet access, but all doors, windows, lamps, and appliances can be controlled by computers, and a high-performance server serves as the back office for managing the entire system.

Status quo at home and abroad

A few years ago, Bill and Gates spent a large sum of money building smart houses on the shores of Lake Washington, which once attracted a lot of attention. Today, smart home appliances, intelligent lighting systems, intelligent security systems, and even intelligent residential areas are not surprising. The pace of smart homes in China has begun to move faster and faster. Smart home is the core of residential intelligence. At present, China's smart home market has three characteristics:

1 The market has great potential. Now the development of the real estate industry in the whole country is very hot. As the downstream industry, the prospect of the smart home market is still very optimistic;

2 There are many products and many manufacturers. Most of these manufacturers are concentrated in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and so on, but so far no one has formed scale;

3 In the smart home industry countries, there is no uniform industry standard, which makes many small and medium-sized enterprises manage their own affairs. According to their own understanding of the market to develop products, the products are not compatible with each other. This situation is like the feeling of hegemony in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States era. Therefore, in the next few years, the smart home market will enter an industry consolidation stage. In the end, there may be several manufacturers with relatively large scale and good brand influence. In terms of the development of the smart home market, the concept of smart homes has been gradually promoted in recent years, and home-grown home appliances/equipment designed and produced in China will have a considerable scale. At the same time, in the domestic appliance market, many manufacturers, including Midea and Haier, have started to develop intelligent home appliances, such as the smart and beautiful remote control intelligent lighting system, the US smart air conditioner, Haier smart refrigerator, etc., due to the popularity of its price, The operation is simple and the market share it occupies is gradually expanding.
