(Nasdaq: POWI), a world leader in high-efficiency, high-reliability LED driver ICs, today unveiled the LYTSwitchTM-3 product line — The latest member of the company's LYTSwitch family of LED driver ICs. LYTSwitch-3 is ideal for bulb, tube and downlight applications with up to 20 W output power, providing excellent dimming performance with either leading edge or trailing edge TRIAC dimmers, and supports both isolated and non-isolated topologies structure.
The LYTSwitch-3 IC has configurable dimming characteristics that allow designers to optimize the dimming range and efficiency of the drive. The deep dimming response can also be set to increase the dimming range or to use the load-shutdown mode to eliminate the possibility of flicker. When no dimmer is connected or when the dimmer is operating at full conduction angle, the dimmer management circuitry of the IC is turned off, increasing efficiency. The new driver IC is unique in that it continuously controls the power factor and manages it even in dimming mode, which minimizes the apparent power consumption (VA) of the lamp during dimming, thereby preventing it.
