Commonwealth Bank of Australia pushes child financial education VR application!

CommBank launched the children's story book called The Teleporter Adventures and the corresponding VR application, hoping to educate children about financial knowledge in an immersive narrative environment.

The story is called "Sammy the Space Koala" and the protagonist is Koala named Sammy. He walks through the Milky Way and hopes to find a magical gift for Grandma's birthday. During this journey, children will enter the virtual reality world and learn about supply and demand in finance.

The Teleporter Adventures is an extension of the Commonwealth Bank Start Smart program. The Start Smart Program is one of the largest of its kind in the world. They want to test whether VR technology can help students master the financial knowledge they have learned in the classroom through the latest virtual reality experience.

Michael Canning, executive creative director of M&C Saatchi, commented: “The Teleporter Adventures combines traditional storybooks and virtual reality worlds. As a new platform for immersive storytelling, we want to make more Australian children and communities in a An interesting way to learn about wealth and to play the glorious tradition of wealth management at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.”

In order to create the story of "Sammy the Space Koala", M&C Saatchi collaborated with the famous author Ursula Dubosarsky, who won the Australian Children's Book of the Year award. They prepared a smart phone application and a Google Cardboard headline called "The Teleporter" for the children's story book for the entity, allowing children to send it to the virtual reality chapter of the story.

Stuart Tucker, head of marketing at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, said: "The platform combines virtual reality with education and builds on our previous work to help children in Australia prepare for the future. For us, this is to explore VR. Technology is the first step in developing the potential of financial management knowledge."

Bart Jenniches, director of Google Australia’s media and entertainment division, sees this platform as “an excellent example of Australian brands using virtual reality and cheap headlines for communication and education”.

About 10% of Australian 15-year-olds have not yet reached the baseline for financial knowledge, and financial education programs are critical to ensuring their future welfare. For the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s latest corporate social responsibility project Opportunity Initiatives, the investment in Start Smart is a very important part.

M&C Saatchi collaborated with Tricky Jigsaw to design a product experience, and Fin Design created the virtual reality world. The Teleporter Adventures will be launched on the Channel of Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
