The export of LED lighting products in China has shown a growth trend, but the recent demand shrinks, the base increases, the exchange rate fluctuates, and the market peaks. As a result of objective reasons, the export growth of LED lighting products is relatively weak.
GGII released the "2017-2018 China LED Lighting Export Monthly Monitoring Report" data statistics show that in April 2018 China's LED lighting products exports totaled about 1.844 billion US dollars, an increase of 1%, the export volume of about 2.307 billion, an increase of 68 %.
GGII analysts said, "The export volume of LED lighting products increased by a year-on-year in April, mainly due to the sharp increase in the number of LED lamp beads exports."
With the technological breakthroughs in the LED general lighting industry to drive down costs, the price of LED general lighting products has fallen to the same level as energy-saving lamps, and the price/performance ratio has further improved. In the future, the LED lighting market will accelerate penetration, and LED general lighting will be the mainstream of lighting products. According to the statistics of the High-tech Research Institute LED Research Institute (GGII), the total number of LED lighting export enterprises in China in April 2018 was about 13,000 (including trading companies and manufacturing companies). It is through a precise strategic layout that Sunshine Lighting exported a total of US$4.3 million in April this year, accounting for 2.33% of its exports. It is reported that on April 4, 2018, the US government officially issued the "301 Investigation" proposal to levy a 25% tariff on Chinese products and list 1300 tax numbers. The LED products with a large proportion of China's exports to the United States are mainly concentrated in downstream applications, such as lighting products category 94054090, 94051000, display type 85312000, etc., but the above items are not within the scope of this 301 list. Therefore, in terms of the amount of LED lighting products exported to the United States in April and the number of products, it has not been affected by the trade war.
However, due to the small number of local manufacturing products manufacturers in the United States, most of the lighting brand companies and sales channels entrusted Chinese OEMs. If the above-mentioned application products are taxed in the future, I am afraid that the price of this type of products sold in the US market will rise sharply.
It is worth noting that among the top ten enterprises exporting LED lighting products, except for the other nine export destinations of Kaiyao Lighting, the United States has the largest proportion. Of course, Kai Yao Lighting also has a large proportion of exports to the United States, reaching 17% of its total exports, ranking second in its export destinations.
From this point of view, the United States is the main destination for the export of LED lighting companies in China. It is gratifying that after a few days of intense negotiations, China and the United States issued a joint statement on the 19th local time. The two sides will finally reach a consensus on not engaging in trade wars and will strengthen economic and trade cooperation in many fields.
