Cypress Semiconductor Corp. today announced that Casio's innovative freestyle cameras feature its TrueTouch® capacitive touch screen controller and static random access memory (SRAM) products. The lens of the Casio EX-FR10 camera can be separated from the touch control section, giving the user more flexibility, such as removing the lens, hanging it around the neck with a lanyard or fixing it at any angle, while also being based on TrueTouch. View and take the ideal photo on the touch screen. The camera uses Cypress's MoBL® (More Battery LifeTM) asynchronous low-power SRAM for fast data throughput and smoother image data caching.
TrueTouch brings industry-leading water resistance to the Casio EX-FR10 camera's display for seamless operation in real-world environments such as rain, fog or sweat. This performance is derived from Cypress's proprietary DualSenseTM patented technology. This technology performs self-capacitance and mutual capacitance sensing on the same device. TrueTouch also enables simple operation of the camera through familiar smartphone touch actions, such as a light swipe to wake the display from sleep mode and a click on the screen to take a photo. Cypress's MoBL SRAM brings 45 ns to the camera, and its small ball-point solder array (BGA) package minimizes board size. Both low power consumption extend battery life.
Hitoshi Yoshizawa, vice president of sales at Cypress Japan, said: "Casio's innovative EX-FR10 camera uses both our TrueTouch and MoBL SRAM to prove that Cypress's products are available in the emerging market for wearable electronics. In addition to achieving the industry's best touch screen water resistance, we have also developed custom firmware with Casio to meet its high standard of user interface. The design also reflects our market leading SRAM product line. How rich it is to meet the user's precise design requirements, which further strengthens our belief in the continued investment in the SRAM market."
