Abstract: The MCP41010 digital potentiometer is used in the design of the snubber constant current source circuit to change the stimuli current of the constant current source to the human body, so that the current can be changed according to the adaptation degree of the human body to the stimulator stimulation current. This section describes the working principle and main features of the MCP41010 digital potentiometer produced by Microchip, and describes the instruction word format of the MCP41010. The MCP41010 is used as the emitter resistor of the constant current source circuit. The I/O port of the AVR microcontroller AT90S8535 is connected to the MCP41010. The microcontroller program simulates the SPI bus timing of the MCP41010 to achieve the purpose of changing the resistance. The experimental results show that the MCP41010 achieves good results.

0 Preface
The MCP41010 is an integrated digital potentiometer manufactured by Microchip. It integrates a 10 kΩ digital potentiometer on a single chip. The wiper has a total of 256 discrete adjustment nodes and an 8 b E2PROM data register that directly controls the position of the slider on the wiper on the potentiometer. The user can write 8-bit words to the data register through the corresponding instruction, and the adjustment precision can reach 256. The MCP41010 chip features an industry-standard SPI synchronous serial port that allows register operations to change the position of the wiper.

1 MCP41010 Overview
The MCP41010 is available in an 8-pin dual in-line package with pinouts as shown in Figure 1. PW0 is the potentiometer sliding end; PA0, PB0 are the two terminals of the potentiometer; SCK, SI is the serial clock and serial data line of the SPI bus. The MCP41010 operates from 2.7 to 5.5 V. On power-on reset, the data register is automatically set to 80H, and the wiper PW0 points to the middle of PA0 and PB0.
