Baidu Apollo uses ON Semiconductor image sensor

According to foreign media reports, ON Semiconductor has joined the Baidu Apollo autopilot platform as its partner. Through this collaboration, the two companies will develop plug-and-play compatible imaging solutions and use them for their ecosystem partners.

Apollo provides an open source, reliable software and hardware system that enables automotive system designers to efficiently develop automated driving systems. Image sensing technology is a key component of the Apollo autonomous driving platform. The standard-compliant 3μm advanced CMOS image sensor developed by ON Semiconductor has laid the foundation for customers to develop autopilot vision systems. The sensor's high dynamic range imaging technology delivers crisp, single images and video in low-light and mixed-light driving environments.

In addition to the simplification and acceleration of the design and testing of automotive camera applications, this collaboration gives Apollo Ecosystem members priority access to ON Semiconductor's technical support and product information. All Apollo partners will also have a prioritized opportunity to acquire a new generation of breakthrough image sensing technology from ON Semiconductor.
